Sustaining Communities: The Power of Museums
THE MISSION
Museums sustain communities in ways that are profound and immeasurable. It is our charge to increase the momentum, to engage partners, create and share ideas, and inspire people. Let’s rededicate ourselves to this endeavor. Join us in Rhode Island for “Sustaining Communities: The Power of Museums.”

THE PEOPLE, THE PLACE
Join more than 800 colleagues for the conference and explore Providence, a renaissance city with world-class museums:
  • Hear the always energetic, funny and provocative Curt Columbus, Artistic Director of Trinity Repertory Company, who will deliver our keynote presentation on theaters as public spaces.
  • Dine at the newly expanded RISD Museum and see the spectacular Dale Chihuly glass exhibit that opens the new facility.
  • The conference hotel, the beautifully renovated Crowne Plaza, is just minutes away from exciting downtown Providence and the quaint and historic East Side.

  • THE PROGRAM
More than 60 sessions are designed to meet New Englanders’ needs. Timely topics include Capital Campaigns for Small Museums, The Road to Green, Rejuvenating Your Museum Through Youth Outreach, Textile Conservation, Preparing a Digital Plan, and much more, including:
  • New England’s best networking opportunity for museum professionals
  • Day-long programs for Art and Children’s museums
  • Special Events for Directors and Trustees
  • Unique off-site sessions at area museums

  • NEMA provides high-quality, affordable professional development for every stage of your career. We’ll see you at the conference!
