Easy, Economical, and Resourceful Exhibit Fabrication Techniques that Everyone Should Know

This workshop is designed for collections staff and volunteers whose institutions have limited funds for professionally designed exhibits.
Doug Packer, Cabinet Maker/Exhibit Installer at the Museum of Science, will share strategies for fabricating low-cost mounts and casements from traditional, reused, and non-conventional materials.
Jane Bowers, Exhibitions Curator and Manager at the Wenham Museum, will discuss the steps necessary for designing and mounting professional-looking vinyl lettering in gallery and historic settings. She will also share her experiences creating simple, engaging interactive exhibit components.
Presentations will be followed by a working lunch, during which participants are invited to share their fabrication questions or tips with the group. During this time, participants are welcome to show photos of objects from their institutions' collections for advice on mounting and display.
