Your Go-to Resource for Museum Documents.

Don’t reinvent the wheel. Check out the Museum Document Exchange for help. The Document Exchange is an online library that includes all types of museum policies and documents including bylaws, investment policies, personnel handbooks, collection management, and more.

It’s one of our most popular benefits, giving members direct access to best practices through policies shared by fellow museums. Since the program's inception, literally hundreds of museums have participated by loaning and borrowing policies, helping our museum community grow stronger together.

Just click on one of the categories below to browse the library and download your choice of documents. (Member login required.)

Many thanks to the museums that have contributed to the library.

NEMA needs your help in updating the Museum Document Exchange. The MDE is one of the more popular benefits of NEMA membership. Museums share their policies with fellow museums to help them create or update their own documents, including social media policies, investment policies, collection management policies, and more. Since the program's inception, literally hundreds of museums have participated by loaning and borrowing policies, helping our museum community grow stronger together.

We would appreciate it if you would share some of your institution's documents with our community. While you can submit any documents from the list below, our current focus is on the following: Board Job Description/Committee Description, Collection Policy, Investment Policy, and Social Media Policy. Any electronic format is fine (Word, PDF, text, etc.).

The MDE is available exclusively to NEMA members and is located within the member's-only section of the NEMA website here. (If you'd like to access this feature yourself, don't forget to use your member login.)

Please send your policies and consent form to Florentina Gutierrez at intern@nemanet.org by July 15.

If you have any questions about the Museum Document Exchange, please contact the NEMA office at 781-641-0013.
