Museums take on in-house exhibition production to varying degrees. Aspects of fabrication, installation, graphics and lighting are being done by institutions to control both costs and quality. What are the tools and skills necessary for increasing in-house capability? If your institution could invest in one more piece of equipment, what would be the best choice?
Join museum staffers from institutions both large and small as they compare capabilities. Review popular equipment, tour the Museum of Science’s new workshop, see examples of finished work exhibitions, discuss lighting and learn what different museums have in their workshops and what they are able to do on their own.
Speakers will include:
Larry Ralph, Associate Vice President, Exhibits, Museum of Science; Kevin McEleney, Manager of Technical Design, Museum of Science; Doug Packer, Cabinetmaker, Museum of Science; and David Maschino, Exhibit Coordinator, Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, Brunswick, ME.
