November Lunch With NEMA
WHEN: Wednesday, November 29, 2017, Noon - 1 pm
WHAT: The Value of Museums: Assessing evidence of impact in a quickly changing society
WHO: Susan Wilkening, Principal, Wilkening Consulting
Museums are at a crossroads, with greater questions about our impact coming from donors who want more evidence, and proposed federal budgets zeroing out crucial funding sources. How do we articulate our value, to audiences who may not intrinsically value informal learning? How do we broaden our audiences to reach more individuals who don't see a need for museums in their lives?
Building on extensive national data sets she has fielded with both museum-goers and non-visitors, Susie Wilkening will begin to tackle these questions in ways that go to the heart of what we all try to accomplish in, and with, our communities. Her contextual understanding of audiences, and how individual museums serve them, will help you sharpen your articulation of your museum's value, and consider how you can provide more evidence of that value to your stakeholders.
